Major Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced interruptions to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and applying sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area came under heavy assaults overnight. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks follow nights of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

He said utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
